After rising quickly through the ranks of Sydney’s Bass Music scene, Liveschool graduate Perto has gone on to become an in-demand beat maker, bringing his signature forward thinking approach to some genuine household names. His recent studio collabs include Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and Billie Eilish.
And he’s famed for how fast he can work. The latest track, a collaboration with Kah-Lo, was wrapped up in 2 hours. An impressive feat, characteristically down-played in an interview with Vice: “It’s a pretty simple song. It’s a beat with her vocals on it. But I don’t know… There was just something there that day. We just got along and got it done.”
Simple as he claims it, the studio skills are prominent in this song – flowing fluently through bouncing 808’s, warm basslines and submerged melodies.
In November Perto takes off around Australia on the Listen Out tour, joining artists like Slowthai, Diplo, Flume and Setmo amongst many more.
