Liveschool allumni Jozef Conor is a regular across the Melbourne club scene, his tracks have been tried & tested at the likes of Revolver Upstairs, Breakfast Club, Pawn & Co., Bloom and Tramp to name a few. Returning home inspired after a month long trip to South Africa to participate in ‘Afrikaburn’, Jozef set up a label ‘Jozzman Trax’ with two 2-track releases to furnish the debut.
“I hit the ground running as soon as my plane landed back in Australia. ‘Jozzman Trax’ the record label was conceived shortly thereafter and has consumed me ever since. I set out to refine my whole production process from the ground up – constraining myself to use only Ableton Live… no flashy hardware or outboard processing, and I feel I have pushed my boundaries to focus instead on the raw bones and grooves, which I think has really paid off!”
The first two-track EP dubbed ‘Initiate’ includes some seriously deep & groove driven rhythms with a nod to the lo-fi house scene. The title track ‘Initiate’ is a motorik dub techno cut, while track two ‘The Show Is on the road’ pushes some tension through the synths and keeps you hooked with tastefully dj-friendly builds and returns.
The second release, ‘Desert Lung’ is another dj asset, perfect for both early-set and late-night slots, and has already found favour from international heads:
