The LinnDrum Legacy
The LinnDrum’s distinctive sound helped shape the sound of an era, from pop to electronic music. Its crisp, punchy character made it a studio staple, and now we’re bringing that classic sound into the modern production environment with unprecedented control and creative possibilities.
We’ve carefully multi-sampled each voice of this classic drum machine, but we didn’t stop at just capturing the pure sounds – we’ve created multiple variations of each hit to give you maximum versatility in your productions.
Custom Series 75 Powered By Neve
To capture these sounds, we chose a legendary signal path: the Custom Series 75 Powered By Neve mixing console. Each drum hit was meticulously recorded through this classic desk, taking advantage of its renowned on-board compressor and EQ. We crafted unique settings for every sound, ensuring each hit was captured at its absolute best.
But we wanted to go further. We created additional character by running each sound through a second channel, pushing the mic preamp into natural analog distortion. This gives you everything from subtle warmth to full-on crunch, all with that distinctive analog character that only true hardware can provide.
More Sonic Control
The natural sonic quality of the LinnDrum can be described as “high-impact”, withe each sound having a distinctive and hard-hitting transient. This gave us the opportunity to create something truly special: a drum instrument that responds sonically with every touch.
- The sound-shaping dials on every pad allows, for example, to shape the kick into a clubby kick, a live kick, or a super-808 sub.
- The 16 instrument controls are so expressive you’ll can make an entire track with just this one drum rack.
The Pack
Version 5 of this pack brings together 144 carefully crafted samples into a comprehensive collection of Ableton Live drum racks. We’ve created multiple versions to suit different workflows:
– A pure rack focusing on the clean and distorted samples
– An intermediate version with essential sound-shaping controls
– An advanced version packed with extensive sound-shaping and mixing capabilities
– A mixing example set to help you get started
Every preset is designed to maximize creativity while maintaining the authentic character of the original sounds. Push users will find extensive macro mapping for hands-on control, and the included mixing template provides a professional starting point for your productions.
