Setwun’s continues his roll with Lonnie, his new swung out dancefloor bomb. Following on from last years remix of 30/70, Lonnie is an ode to cosmic synth funk pioneer Lonnie Liston Smith. The new tune shuffles gracefully through 5 minutes of organic percussion, deep pads and infectious rhythms.
According to Setwun, aka Liveschool trainer Josh Panakera-Maloney, Lonnie was initially created few years ago in a more stripped back arrangement for performance with The Soulstranauts. It took a journey through several incarnations, was tweaked and twisted for various live sets and eventually made its way to the ears of the Broken District label. Featuring fellow Soulstranaut Daniel Pliner on the keys this is the perfect tune to send a warmed up dance floor into space.
